Back from the dead, No Quarter Radio is live, and blasting in your ears!
Celebrating a new partnership with Oranjive.com, No Quarter Radio Episode 10 is firing on all cylinders, bringing Wes together with a kooky cast of characters, Tyler Ohlew and Jeff Sobol from Oranjive, and as a very special guest, Brian Belida, best known for his professional Parkour team, The Tribe. The team's been featured on everything from Philips TV advertisements to G4's American Ninja Warrior, in which they tied for top prize in the Spring 2008 competition.
Braid, Kotaku, Jeff Green's 1up departure, old-school cartridge games, and other random topics make their way onto the crew's tables, and they dish out the love (and sometimes, hate) with mad style, and suave fashion sense.
We're back, baby!

Wes: Hey, fancy meeting you here, scrubsauce! Here to talk about
Soul Calibur IV?
Tyler: Oh no, sorry. I'm not really familiar with this
“Soul Calibur IV.” I was hoping you wanted to talk about
Soulcalibur IV, you know, that recently released 3D-fighting game. Did Namco's
sudden and nonsensical change of heart concerning the franchises name catch
you off guard ? Maybe next time you won't call me sauceyscrub or whatever.
Wes: I'll call you what I damn well please! Actually,
yeah, the name thing is pretty goofy. Well then, what's your credentials? Eh,
Scrubs McFizzlebeef? Are you a master with Ivy's stances? Do you know of
Voldo's ultimate combos? Do you think Kilik's still overpowered as hell? Do you
even know what I'm talking about?
Tyler: Sorry, I think you're mistaking me for
someone who's actually capable of understanding the complexities of the
fighting genre. On one end of the spectrum is you, a seasoned vet who knows
the difference between a hadouken and a Johnny Cage. I'm sure somewhere in
your closet lies a locked case crammed full of Chun-Li and Ivy fan-fic. And
then there's me, a poor soul who missed every iteration of Street Fighter beyond
number two, and considers Super Smash Bros. Brawl the closest he's been to a
fighting game since then.
Wes: Oh, this should be fun, then. Also, the Ivy/Chun-Li
story is filled with proper intrigue and legitimate storytelling devices! How dare
you! I CHALLENGE YOU! TO A SOUL CALIBUR IV REVIEW!
Tyler: I accept your challenge, simpleton. But I must
warn you, I have no muscles.
Wes: BY THE SPIRITS OF THE BLADE, TWO WARRIORS
TRIUMPH OVER ADVERSITY AND okay, actually, I'm going to stop talking like
that.

Blurb Jeff: Still need that windscreen and a vocabulary condenser. Tyler's on fire though and full of greatness! Tyler: I'm not so sure about that. I mean, if I was so full of greatness, would I dare link to this? Anyways, I was delighted by Bungie's comments about learning from Call of Duty 4. The industry can be close minded sometimes when it comes to recognizing one's competition. Could you ever imagine hearing Neversoft praise Harmonix's re-working of the Guitar Hero formula and turning it into Rock Band. Saints Row 2 feels that the only way to compete with GTAIV is through mocking commercials. Gamers can play both games, why do some publishers feel the need to compete for a gamers time when they could share it? For the benefit of games, developers really need to assess the improvements of there peers, and not resort solely to one upmanship.

In a music video banned by North American
television stations, Madonna posed the question, do you know what it feels like
for a girl? I wish someone else could have posed the question, but lets make
some lemonade regardless.
I bring this song lyric to the table because
it's an important question within the video games industry. More often than not,
a female character within a game is just a well endowed caricature of the female
body. We'd be lucky if they even have artificial intelligence, let alone a
personality. But that's not my problem, because no matter how wide these
developers have missed the mark, they at least include the female gender as a
playable character.
What I wish to address is the over
abundance of games that don't provide that option at all.

Today's show:Hey, GEOMETRY WARS 2 IS OUT! It's twice evolved, which makes it four times as great. Blurb Don't question the math, I'm just the messenger. Update: Tyler here. Just so no one can claim that I'm an idiot before I can admit to the mistake, yes, my "clever" reference to Jurassic Park is indeed wrong. It's wasn't a whip cream can, it was shaving cream. My apologies to everyone smarter than I. As well, Blizzard's comments regarding innovation were very interesting. It's funny how much someone can drone on and on about innovation, meanwhile a good per cent of those features are simply evolutions of previous ideas. I do think that success comes in making everything work, and building from there. Blizzard may not be rocking the foundations of gaming with each and every game and update, but at least they make a lot of people happy.
